Holiday season is upon us! The air is filled with Christmas magic and all is merry and bright. Take your family on a Christmas outing to gaze at awe-inspiring holiday light displays in the Chicago area. We compiled a list of a few spots you won’t want to miss, right near your Overstreet Builders community!
Lincoln Park Zoo
Head to Lincoln Park Zoo for a night of Holiday Magic surrounded by dazzling LED light displays. Get lost in the Light Maze or bring the little ones to the Children’s Zoo, which has been transformed into a mystical Enchanted Forest. Chaperones can warm up with drinks and purchase treats at the Snowy’s Spirits & S’mores pop-up bar. The small entrance fee of $5 helps support this beloved Chicago tradition. Admission-free Zoolights nights are being held Nov. 24, and Dec. 9, 17, 21 and 29 by reservation. Click here for more information.
Illumination at Morton Arboretum
Morton Arboretum is a must-see this year, with a captivating two-mile driving experience of color and lights, featuring the Arboretum’s treasured trees. Tune your car radio to their dedicated station for synchronized symphony music as you weave your way through glittering tunnels, eight different light displays and Christmas trees galore! Tickets won’t be available on site, so make sure to plan your date and purchase tickets ahead of time.
Chicago Christmas Tree
The City of Chicago Christmas Tree has been lit over 100 years in a row. And even with all the 2020 shutdowns, this year is no exception! Get ready to enjoy the tree lights and celebrate the event’s 107th anniversary. Located in Millennium Park, the tree will be open to public viewing daily from 8am to 9pm for groups of 10 people or less practicing social distancing guidelines.
A Family Affair
Families in the suburbs don’t have to travel far to see spectacular lights! In Naperville, Manchester Light’s Holiday Light Show is hosting their celebrated drive-up light display, complete with synchronized music. This event is free for everyone and donations are collected for charity. The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will also host their free Winter Wonderland display in Water Town. It’s a great destination for viewing lights and knocking out some of your Christmas shopping!
Meanwhile, never forget that Christmas light viewing doesn’t have to be scheduled or organized. Just hop in the car or take your dogs for a walk with a thermos of cocoa. We bet your Overstreet neighbors would love to see you admiring their decor!
